Preset Sizes

Presets crop to fill the exact frame; switch to “Fit inside” to keep the whole picture. Social sizes as listed by Instagram and YouTube help pages, October 2026.

Output Settings

Smooth averages pixels for clean results. Nearest neighbour keeps hard pixel edges when enlarging pixel art or icons.

GIF, BMP and AVIF originals are saved as PNG. JPG fills transparency with white.

Lower = smaller file. PNG is always lossless.

Saved in JPG and PNG files; it doesn't change the pixels.

Summary

An image resizer changes the pixel dimensions of a picture, and with them the file size. To resize an image free and privately here, click Select Images, type a Width and Height in pixels (or switch to Percentage), pick Fit inside, Crop to fill or Stretch, and press Download Resized. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded, as the Network tab in DevTools will show.

For Fit inside, scale = the smaller of (target width ÷ width) and (target height ÷ height); each side becomes its original length times scale, rounded. To cut the file weight further, use the image compressor.

Features

  • Two resize modes. Pixel Dimensions with three fits: Fit inside (leave one field empty for auto), Crop to fill and Stretch (both need a width and a height); or Percentage, 1% to 400% on the slider and up to 1000% in the number box.
  • Ten Preset Sizes, including Instagram Square, Story / Reel and YouTube Thumbnail. Save current size keeps your own presets in this browser.
  • Resampling: Smooth for photos and graphics, or Nearest neighbour to keep hard edges on pixel art.
  • Output control: Same as original, JPG, PNG or WebP, a JPG / WebP quality slider (10–100%, 90% by default), white fill for transparency in JPG, and a DPI (for print) value written into JPG and PNG files.
  • Batch resizing with no image limit, then Download All (ZIP). Files are named like photo_1280x960.jpg.

Limits: a result may be at most 16,384 pixels on a side and 268,435,456 pixels in area. There is no target-file-size (KB) option; lower the quality or pixel size instead. Don't enlarge images that are already smaller stops small files being scaled up. To cut an exact region, use the image cropper.

FAQs

How do I resize an image to exact pixel dimensions and keep the aspect ratio?

Click Select Images, keep Pixel Dimensions selected, then type a Width, a Height or both. With Fit inside the proportions are kept: fill in one field and the other is worked out, or fill in both for the largest picture that fits inside that box, so 4000 × 3000 into 1920 × 1080 gives 1440 × 1080. Then press Download Resized.

What is the difference between Fit inside, Crop to fill and Stretch?

Fit inside keeps the whole picture and its proportions, so a 4000 × 3000 photo fitted into 1080 × 1080 becomes 1080 × 810. Crop to fill gives exactly 1080 × 1080 by scaling the photo to cover the box and trimming equal amounts from the edges that overflow (left and right here, top and bottom on a portrait photo). Stretch also gives exactly 1080 × 1080 but distorts the picture.

Which sizes should I use for Instagram and YouTube?

As of October 2026, Instagram's Help Center says feed photos display up to 1080 pixels wide with ratios from 1.91:1 to 3:4, so 1080 × 1080, 1080 × 1350 and 1080 × 1440 work; Stories and Reels use 1080 × 1920. YouTube's help page recommends 16:9 thumbnails at 3840 × 2160, minimum width 640.

Does resizing reduce image quality?

Making an image smaller drops fine detail; Smooth resampling averages several original pixels into each new one, which can soften edges slightly; a light pass with the image sharpener helps. Enlarging cannot add detail that was never captured, so photos look softer. JPG and WebP use the quality slider, 90% by default; PNG is lossless.

Does changing the DPI make an image bigger or sharper?

No. DPI is a label stored in JPG and PNG files that tells printing software how large to print each pixel; the pixels do not change, and screens ignore it. The tool shows the print size: 4000 × 3000 pixels at 300 DPI prints at 13.33 × 10.00 inches.

Are my images uploaded when I resize them?

No. Images are decoded, resized and re-encoded by your browser, as the Network tab in DevTools will show. The tool never sends your images anywhere; the only file it loads on demand is its ZIP library, from this site, when you press Download All (ZIP).
