Receipt generator: make a receipt and print or save it, free and private
A receipt generator turns payment details into a printable proof of payment. To make one here, fill in the business details, the receipt number and date, each item's Description, Qty and Unit price, then the Tax rate, Payment method and Currency, and click Print, PDF or PNG. The preview beside the form updates as you type, and totals are worked out in whole cents, pence or other minor units so every printed line adds up.
It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded (you can check the Network tab in DevTools), and nothing is saved when you close the page. There is no sign-up and no watermark. The only request is for the PDF library, which loads from this site the first time you click PDF and sends none of your details.
A receipt confirms that payment arrived; an invoice asks for it. If you still need to request payment, start with the invoice generator. To work out tax on a price first, use the GST calculator or the VAT calculator.

Features
- Business block: name, address and an optional phone, email or tax ID line.
- Receipt details: a receipt number that starts as R- plus the date and a three-digit number, a Date and time that starts as now, and an optional Received from line. All can be edited.
- Any number of items with + Add item and a remove button on each row. Quantities can be decimals, and unit prices can carry up to four decimals.
- Forgiving amounts: 2,5, 1,250.00 and prices typed with $, €, £, ₹ or ¥ are understood. Fields outlined in red and a notice show what to fix, and the output buttons stay disabled until you do.
- Tax with your own Tax name (Tax, VAT, GST), a rate from 0 to 100 percent, added on top or already included. At 0 percent the tax lines are left out.
- 17 currencies, each with its own symbol and decimals, and seven payment methods: Cash, Card, Bank transfer, UPI, Mobile payment, Cheque / check and Other.
- Footer message, which starts as "Thank you for your business!".
- Three outputs: Print, PDF (80 mm wide) and PNG (960 pixels wide).
The formulas the totals use:
- Line total = Qty × Unit price, rounded to the currency's smallest unit; Subtotal = the sum of the line totals.
- Tax added = Subtotal × Rate ÷ 100, and TOTAL = Subtotal + Tax.
- Tax included = TOTAL × Rate ÷ (100 + Rate). The TOTAL is not changed.
To price a sale first, try the discount calculator or the margin calculator. For a customer in another currency, the currency converter shows an equivalent amount, and the tip calculator works out a gratuity on a bill.

FAQs
How do I make a receipt for free?
Enter your business name and address, check the receipt number and date, add each item with its quantity and unit price, set the tax rate and payment method, and choose a currency. The receipt preview updates as you type. Then click Print, PDF or PNG. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many receipts you make.
How is tax calculated on the receipt?
Each line is quantity × unit price, rounded to the currency's smallest unit (cents, pence, paise; whole yen for JPY). Tax is the subtotal × the rate ÷ 100, rounded, and the total is subtotal plus tax, so the printed figures add up. If prices already include tax, tick "Prices already include tax": the total stays the same and the receipt shows the tax it contains, total × rate ÷ (100 + rate).
Can I add a discount or a refund line?
Yes. Enter a negative unit price, for example -5.00 for a discount, and it is subtracted from the subtotal before tax is worked out. Quantities can be decimals such as 2.5 for hours or kilograms. Decimal commas (2,5) and thousands separators (1,250.00) are accepted, and 1,000 is read as one thousand. A negative quantity is not allowed.
What do the PDF and PNG downloads look like?
Both are drawn from the on-screen preview at the width of an 80 mm till roll. The PNG is an image 960 pixels wide. The PDF places that image on an 80 mm-wide page, so its text cannot be selected. For a document with selectable text, click Print and choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print dialog; only the receipt is printed, not the rest of the page.
Which currencies are supported?
Seventeen: US dollar, euro, British pound, Indian rupee (with lakh grouping such as ₹1,23,456.78), Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Singapore dollars, UAE dirham, South African rand, Nigerian naira, Philippine and Mexican pesos, Brazilian real, Swiss franc, Japanese yen and Chinese yuan. Each amount is shown with the right symbol and number of decimals for its currency.
Is a receipt made here legally valid?
A receipt is a record that payment was received. What it must contain, for example a tax registration number or a particular invoice format, depends on your country and on whether you are registered for VAT or GST, so check your local rules. You can print a tax ID in the "Phone, email or tax ID" field. This tool does not issue official tax invoices.
Is my data stored or uploaded?
No. The receipt is built in your browser, nothing you type is sent to a server, and nothing is saved when you close the page. You can verify it in the Network tab of your browser DevTools. The only request is for the PDF library, loaded from this site the first time you click PDF; it downloads code and sends none of your details.
What is the difference between a receipt and an invoice?
An invoice asks for payment and is sent before the money arrives. A receipt confirms that payment was received and is issued afterwards. A business often sends an invoice first and a receipt once the customer has paid. If you still need to ask for payment, make an invoice instead, then come back here when the money is in.
