Summary
A discount calculator works out the price you pay and the money you save when something is a percentage cheaper. To use this one free and privately, choose Single discount, type the Original Price and the Discount Percentage, and read You Save and Final Price. Choose Stacked discounts to combine offers such as 20% off then 10% off, or Find the discount % to turn an original price and a sale price into a percentage. Nothing you type is uploaded.
The formulas are simple. Final price = original × (1 − discount ÷ 100). Stacked discounts multiply: the total discount is 1 − (1 − a)(1 − b), so 20% and 10% make 28%, never 30%. The discount from two prices is (original − sale) ÷ original × 100. To add tax to a discounted price, use the VAT calculator or the GST calculator.

Features
- Three calculation types: Single discount, Stacked discounts and Find the discount %.
- Quick percentages: one tap for 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% or 50% in Single discount mode.
- Any number of stacked discounts, with the price and saving after each step and a note on the true combined percentage.
- Working shown: a Formula box fills in your numbers, so you can check the arithmetic.
- Exact cents: in Single and Stacked modes every saving is rounded half up to the cent and the final price is what is left, so the figures always add up.
- Currency labels for USD, EUR, GBP, INR, CAD, AUD and JPY, or none. This changes formatting only; to compare a foreign price first, use the currency converter.
- Copy summary and a copy button for the final price.
Know the limits: discounts are percentages from 0 to 100, prices need at most two decimals, a sale price above the original is flagged as a price increase, and tax, shipping and fixed-amount coupons are not modelled directly.

Who Can Use It
Shoppers can check whether “extra 10% off” is as good as it sounds, and compare a coupon with a percentage sale. Small sellers can test a promotion against their costs with the markup calculator and the margin calculator before putting a price tag on it. Students can use the Formula box to practise percentages.
Working out what a percentage is of another number is a job for the percentage calculator. Once you know the final price, plan where the money you saved goes with the savings calculator, or divide a shared purchase with the split bill calculator and add a gratuity with the tip calculator.
FAQs
How do I calculate the sale price after a discount?
Multiply the original price by (1 − discount rate). For 25% off an $80 item, $80 × (1 − 0.25) = $80 × 0.75 = $60, so you save $20. In the calculator choose Single discount, type the Original Price and the Discount Percentage, and the You Save and Final Price boxes show the same result with the working.
How do I calculate 20% off plus an extra 10% off?
Choose Stacked discounts and enter 20 and 10. Each discount applies to the price left by the one before, so $100 becomes $80 and then $72. The total is 28%, not 30%, because 1 − 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.28. Apart from rounding to the cent, the order of the discounts does not change the final price.
How do I find the discount percentage from two prices?
Divide the amount saved by the original price and multiply by 100. A jacket cut from $80 to $60 has ($80 − $60) ÷ $80 × 100 = 25% off. Choose Find the discount % and enter both prices. The same trick converts a coupon: $15 off a $60 order is the original $60 and a sale price of $45, which is 25%.
Is $10 off better than 10% off?
Compare the money saved. A fixed $10 beats 10% off when the purchase is under $100, the percentage wins above $100, and at exactly $100 they are equal. In general a fixed amount is better whenever it is larger than the price multiplied by the percentage. Use Find the discount % to turn the fixed coupon into a percentage.
How do I find the original price from a sale price and a discount?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount rate). If a coat costs $60 after 25% off, the original was $60 ÷ 0.75 = $80. This calculator works forward from the original price, so for this question use the percentage calculator’s “X is Y% of what?” option with 60 and 75.
Why is the saving rounded to the cent?
Prices are paid in whole cents, so each saving is rounded half up to the cent and the final price is whatever remains. For example, $1.25 at 50% off saves $0.63 and costs $0.62. In Single discount mode the Formula box notes when a saving was rounded. Savings in the Single and Stacked modes are worked out exactly in whole cents, so the on-screen figures always add up.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded or stored. You can check this by opening the Network tab in DevTools and changing a price: no request is made. Even the Copy summary button only places text on your own clipboard.
