Summary: Add or Remove GST Free and Privately
A GST calculator finds the Goods and Services Tax on a price, or strips it out of a price that already includes it. This free GST calculator covers India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada (GST and HST), Singapore and Malaysia (SST), and accepts any custom rate. It shows the net amount, the GST and the gross total, rounded to the cent so they add up, plus the CGST/SGST and IGST split for Indian rates.
The calculation runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded (you can check the Network tab in DevTools). To add GST: GST = net × rate. To remove it: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate). So ₹10,000 at 18% adds ₹1,800. For European sales tax, use the VAT calculator, and for income tax see the tax calculator.

Features
- Six tax systems. Pick a country and its common rates appear as buttons: India 5%, 18%, 40% and 3%; Australia 10%; New Zealand 15%; Canada 5%, 13%, 14% and 15%; Singapore 9%; Malaysia service tax 8% and 6% and sales tax 10% and 5%.
- Custom rate. Type any rate from 0 to 100 for exempt, zero-rated or special cases.
- Add or remove. Calculation Type switches between Add GST (amount is exclusive) and Remove GST (amount includes GST).
- Indian CGST, SGST and IGST. For India, the GST amount is shown as an intra-state CGST plus SGST split and as an inter-state IGST figure.
- Batch Calculation. Enter many items, each marked excl. or incl., and copy the net, GST and gross table for a spreadsheet.
- Country-aware formatting. Results use each country's currency format, such as ₹1,40,000.00 with lakh grouping for India and RM for Malaysia.
- Copy buttons and formula. Copy the net, GST or gross figure and see the formula with your numbers.
- Safe amount entry. Commas work as thousands separators (1,250.50 or 1,00,000); a comma decimal such as 12,5 is rejected, not read as 125.
The built-in rates were checked on 5 October 2026 against the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (India), the Australian Taxation Office, Inland Revenue (New Zealand), the Canada Revenue Agency, IRAS (Singapore) and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department; each country card links to its source. Exempt and zero-rated items are not preset, so use the custom rate.

FAQs
How do I add GST to a price or remove it from a GST-inclusive price?
To add GST, multiply the price by the rate: ₹10,000 at 18% gives ₹1,800 GST and ₹11,800 in total. To remove GST, divide the inclusive price by (1 + rate): ₹11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000, so the GST is ₹1,800. Taking 18% of ₹11,800 would wrongly give ₹2,124.
What are the GST rates in India now?
Since 22 September 2025 (often called GST 2.0), India's main GST rates are 5% and 18%, with a 40% rate for selected luxury and sin goods. Many essentials are nil-rated, special rates such as 3% on gold and silver remain, and the old 12% and 28% slabs were removed. Check your HSN or SAC code on the CBIC site before invoicing.
How is GST split into CGST, SGST and IGST?
For a sale within one Indian state, GST is split equally into Central GST and State GST, so 18% becomes 9% CGST plus 9% SGST. For a sale between states, the full 18% is charged as Integrated GST (IGST). The total tax is the same either way; the calculator shows both for Indian rates.
What is the GST/HST rate in each Canadian province?
The federal GST is 5%. Harmonised provinces charge HST instead: 13% in Ontario, 14% in Nova Scotia (since 1 April 2025) and 15% in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. Alberta and the territories charge only 5%, and British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Quebec add a separate provincial tax.
What is the difference between GST and VAT?
GST and VAT (value added tax) are the same kind of consumption tax under different names. GST is used in India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Singapore, while VAT is used in the European Union, the UK and many other countries. Both tax value added at each stage of supply.
How do I calculate GST on many items at once?
Switch on Batch Calculation, pick the rate and add one line per item, marking each amount excl. (+ GST) or incl. (− GST). The table totals net, GST and gross, rounded to the cent so they add up. Use Copy table (tab-separated) to paste it into a spreadsheet.
Is it safe to enter invoice amounts into this GST calculator?
Yes. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded; you can check the Network tab in DevTools. The calculator stores nothing between visits. The only outside links are the "Official source" links, which open tax authority sites in a new tab.
