Age Calculator: Find Your Exact Age Free and Privately

An age calculator turns a date of birth into an exact age. Enter your date of birth above and this free age calculator shows your age in whole years, months and days, the total days, weeks, hours and minutes you have lived, the weekday you were born on, your Western zodiac sign and the days left until your next birthday. Add a second date and it returns the exact gap between the two, which is how you work out the age difference between two people or how old someone was or will be on a given day.

The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded; you can check the Network tab in your browser's DevTools. There is no account to create, and the page stores nothing between visits. To count only working days between two dates, use the Date Difference Calculator instead.

How age is counted

Age = whole calendar years + whole calendar months + leftover days, where a month counts only once its day number has been reached. Born on 20 January 1990, you are 34 years, 1 month and 24 days old on 15 March 2024: 34 years reach 20 January 2024, one month reaches 20 February, and 24 more days (2024 is a leap year, so February has 29) reach 15 March. Days lived are counted between calendar dates rather than as millisecond differences, so a daylight-saving change never moves the answer by a day.

Age Calculator Features

  • Calendar age: years, months and days, never 365-day years or 30-day months.
  • Lifetime totals: days, weeks with leftover days, hours and minutes, refreshed each minute while the page is open.
  • Optional time of birth: without it the count starts at midnight on your birth date, in your device's time zone. If you were born elsewhere, convert the time with the Time Zone Converter or check the World Clock.
  • Next birthday: days remaining, the age you turn, the date and its weekday; it reads “Today!” on the day.
  • Birth weekday and Western zodiac sign: signs use fixed dates (Aries is 21 March to 19 April), so on a boundary day check an ephemeris.
  • Two-date comparison: works in either order and says when the second date is the earlier one.
  • Edge cases: 29 February births count as 1 March in common years, and a future date of birth shows a message instead of a negative age.
  • Copy button: copies a plain-text summary of your birth date, age, days and weeks lived, next birthday and zodiac sign.
  • Screen readers: the result is announced once when it changes, not every minute.

One limit: dates use the modern Gregorian calendar even for years before its introduction in 1582, so ages at early historical dates will not match the calendar then in use.

How to Use the Age Calculator

  1. Pick or type a date in the Your date of birth field. The Your Age panel fills in as soon as the date is valid.
  2. Optionally add a Time of birth to count hours and minutes from that clock time instead of midnight.
  3. Optionally enter another person's birthday or any past or future date under Compare with another date. A Difference between the two dates box appears under your age.
  4. Read your age, the Days, Weeks, Hours and Minutes tiles and the Next birthday and Zodiac sign cards, then press Copy to copy a text summary.

Who Can Use the Age Calculator

Parents can read a baby's age in weeks and days, and expectant parents can start from the Pregnancy Due Date Calculator. Form-fillers can check their age on an eligibility cut-off date, though each organisation sets its own counting rule. Genealogists can find someone's age at a past event, and families can compare siblings' or partners' ages.

Planners can pair it with a countdown timer for the party, a printable year from the Calendar Generator, or the Retirement Calculator. The Calorie Calculator and the BMI method of the Body Fat Calculator ask for age in whole years, while the BMI Calculator works from height and weight. For an exact moment rather than a date, use the Timestamp Converter.

Age Calculator FAQs

How do I calculate my exact age in years, months and days?

Enter your date of birth in the "Your date of birth" field and the result appears straight away. The calculator counts whole calendar years, then whole calendar months, then the leftover days. Someone born on 20 January 1990 is 34 years, 1 month and 24 days old on 15 March 2024. Months are real calendar months, never fixed 30-day blocks.

How do I find the age difference between two people?

Type one birthday in the first field and the other in "Compare with another date". The calculator shows the gap in years, months and days plus the total number of days, in either order. Birthdays of 10 March 1996 and 25 September 1999 give 3 years, 6 months and 15 days, or 1,294 days.

How many days old am I?

The "Days" tile counts the whole calendar days between your date of birth and today, and "Weeks" shows the same figure as weeks plus leftover days. Someone born on 15 May 1990 had lived 13,293 days, exactly 1,899 weeks, on 6 October 2026. Hours and minutes appear in the two tiles below them.

How do I calculate my age on a specific date?

Enter your date of birth, then put the date you care about in "Compare with another date". A past date shows how old you were then and a future date shows how old you will be. Born on 20 January 1990, you will be 40 years, 0 months and 0 days old on 20 January 2030.

What happens if I was born on 29 February?

In years without a 29 February the calculator treats 1 March as your birthday, so your age in years goes up on 1 March and the next-birthday countdown points there. Someone born on 29 February 2000 is 22 years, 11 months and 30 days old on 28 February 2023, and 23 on 1 March 2023.

Is it safe to enter my date of birth into an online age calculator?

On this page, yes. The calculation runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded, and you can check the Network tab in your browser's DevTools while you type. The page keeps no account, history or saved record. On any other site, check the Network tab the same way before typing a date of birth.
