Text Repeater: Repeat Text Online, Free and Private

A text repeater copies a piece of text a set number of times and joins the copies with a separator. To repeat text with this free text repeater, type or paste it into Text to Repeat, set the Repeat Count with the slider (1 to 1,000) or by typing up to 1,000,000, choose a Separator (Space, Newline, Comma, None or Custom), then press Copy or Download .txt. The Output box updates as you change any setting.

The repetition runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded; you can check the Network tab in your browser's DevTools. Each copy is built as prefix, optional number, your text and suffix, and the copies are joined by the separator, which appears only between copies, never after the last one. The finished length is easy to predict:

characters = count ร— (prefix length + text length + suffix length) + (count โˆ’ 1) ร— separator length + number characters

With numbering on, each copy gains its digits plus a full stop and a space, so the numbers add 3 characters for copies 1 to 9, 4 for 10 to 99, and so on. A single result is capped at 5,000,000 characters. For placeholder paragraphs rather than repeats, the lorem ipsum generator writes varied filler instead.

Text Repeater Features

  • Large counts: a slider for 1 to 1,000 and a number box for any whole number up to 1,000,000. Anything else shows a message such as "The repeat count must be at least 1."
  • Five separators: Space, Newline, Comma (a comma and a space), None and Custom. A custom separator understands \n for a line break, \t for a tab, \r for a carriage return and \\ for a backslash; anything else is taken literally.
  • Prefix and Suffix: text added before and after every copy, such as list tags or quotation marks.
  • Number repetitions: starts each copy with 1. , 2. , 3. and so on.
  • Size protection: the tool works out the final length before building anything, and a yellow warning gives an approximate maximum count ("about N repetitions") when a result would pass 5,000,000 characters.
  • Preview and output: the box previews the first 100,000 characters, with a character and line count beneath. Copy and Download .txt always use the full text.
  • Reset: clears the text and puts every setting back to its default (a count of 5 with Newline).

One limit to know: the character count is the browser's string length, so most emoji count as two characters and flags or combined emoji count as more. To measure the result in words or lines instead, paste it into the word counter, the character counter or the line counter.

How to Use the Text Repeater

  1. Type or paste your text into Text to Repeat. A multi-line paragraph works too.
  2. Drag the Repeat Count slider, or type a whole number in the box under it.
  3. Pick a Separator. Choose Custom to type your own, using \n or \t for a line break or tab.
  4. Optionally fill Prefix (Optional) and Suffix (Optional), and tick Number repetitions.
  5. Check the Output panel, then press Copy or Download .txt. Reset starts over.

Who Can Use the Text Repeater

Developers and testers generate long strings to try input limits, build repeated rows for a table, or pad a field to an exact size. For unique values rather than copies, a UUID generator or the random string generator is the better fit. Designers fill a mock-up with repeated words, and teachers prepare practice sheets or line-copying drills.

Social media users repeat an emoji or a phrase for a caption. If you need the opposite of repeating, remove duplicate lines collapses copies back to one, and add line numbers offers a start number, a step, five separators and its own prefix and suffix when the built-in numbering is too basic. Finish with case conversion or find and replace to adjust the copies.

Text Repeater FAQs

How do I repeat text multiple times?

Type or paste your text into "Text to Repeat", set the count with the slider (1 to 1,000) or by typing a whole number, and pick a separator. The repeated text appears in the Output box as soon as you change anything. Click Copy to put it on your clipboard, or Download .txt to save it as repeated-text.txt.

What is the maximum number of times I can repeat text?

You can repeat text up to 1,000,000 times, but the finished text is capped at 5,000,000 characters so your browser tab stays responsive. If your settings would go over that, a yellow warning shows the approximate maximum count. For example, "hello" repeated 1,000,000 times with a space between would be 5,999,999 characters, so the limit is about 833,333.

How do I repeat text on separate lines or with a blank line between?

Choose Newline under Separator to put each copy on its own line. For a blank line between copies, choose Custom and type \n\n; the tool turns each \n into a line break, so three copies of "Line" become Line, an empty line, Line, an empty line, Line. Type \t for a tab, or \\ for a real backslash.

How do I number the repeated lines or add text before each one?

Tick "Number repetitions (1., 2., 3. โ€ฆ)" to start each copy with its number, a full stop and a space, counting from 1. The Prefix and Suffix boxes add text before and after every copy. The number goes after the prefix, so prefix "- " and the text "Task" give "- 1. Task", "- 2. Task" and so on.

Can I repeat an emoji or a special character many times?

Yes. Paste the emoji or symbol into "Text to Repeat", choose the separator None to join the copies directly, and set the count. Ten copies of a fire emoji with None give a row of ten. The character count and the 5,000,000-character cap use the browser's string length, so most emoji, including the fire emoji, count as two characters, and flags or combined emoji such as family groups count as four or more.

Why can I only see part of a very long result?

Showing millions of characters on screen would slow your browser, so the Output box previews only the first 100,000 characters and says so under the box. The Copy and Download .txt buttons always use the full result, not the preview. Paste into a text editor or open the downloaded file to see everything.

Is my text uploaded, and is the text repeater free?

The repetition runs in your browser with JavaScript, so your text is not uploaded; you can confirm in the Network tab of your browser's DevTools. Nothing is stored after you close the tab. The tool is free, needs no sign-up and has no usage limit apart from the size caps on a single result.
