Free XML Sitemap Generator

Create a sitemap.xml or a sitemap index: type page URLs, paste a list or import an existing sitemap, then copy or download the file. The tool checks every URL and never crawls your site. Everything runs in your browser.

Private: the sitemap is built in your browser. Your URLs are not sent to our servers, and this tool does not visit or crawl your site.

Sitemap Configuration

Type URLs one by one, or paste a list (or an existing sitemap.xml) with Paste / Import. Up to 50,000 URLs per sitemap.

Sitemap Type

Optional tags to include

Google ignores changefreq and priority and only uses lastmod when it is accurate. Untick them for a smaller file; other crawlers may still read them.

How to generate a sitemap.xml, free and without uploading

To generate a sitemap.xml, type your page addresses into the Page URL boxes, or click Paste / Import URLs, paste a list, a CSV column or an existing sitemap, and click Add URLs. Under Optional tags to include, keep or untick lastmod, changefreq and priority. The Generated XML Sitemap box rewrites itself as you edit and shows the number of URLs and the file size. Click Copy, or Download sitemap.xml, then upload the file to your site root and add a Sitemap: line to robots.txt.

It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded (you can check the Network tab in DevTools). The tool does not visit or crawl your site, so the sitemap holds only the URLs you give it. There is no account and nothing to install.

An XML sitemap is a file that lists the URLs you want search engines to find, written to the sitemaps.org protocol. As of October 2026, Google Search Central allows 50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed per file, says it ignores priority and changefreq, and uses lastmod when the date is consistently accurate. Pair the sitemap with the robots.txt generator, the meta tag generator and the schema markup generator.

Table of Use: what goes in and what comes out

What you enter, what the generator writes into the XML and a note
What you enterWhat is writtenNote

https://example.com/a#top<loc>https://example.com/a</loc>The #fragment is removed, with a warning

/about with Base URL https://example.com<loc>https://example.com/about</loc>Paths that start with / get the base URL in Paste / Import URLs
Priority 2(no priority)Must be 0.0 to 1.0, or it is left out with a warning; 1 is written as 1.0
lastmod 2026-13-01 in an imported sitemap(no lastmod)An impossible date is left out; a future date is only flagged
Add Image: https://example.com/img/a.jpg<image:image><image:loc>https://example.com/img/a.jpg</image:loc></image:image>Adds the image namespace; only the image URL is written
Same URL listed twiceone <url> entryDuplicates are written once and counted in a warning

Features

  • Three ways to add URLs. Type them, paste a list (one per line, or the first column of a CSV), or import a whole sitemap.xml or sitemap index with Paste / Import URLs or Open .txt / .xml / .csv.
  • URL Sitemap or Sitemap Index. A sitemap index lists other sitemap files and takes only a URL and an optional Last Modified date for each.
  • Optional tags. lastmod, changefreq (always, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or never) and priority from 0.0 to 1.0, each switched on or off for the whole file.
  • Image entries. Add Image attaches image URLs to a page and the generator writes the image sitemap tags, warning above 1,000 images per URL.
  • Clean URLs. Spaces and non-ASCII characters in addresses are percent-encoded, internationalised host names are converted to punycode, fragments are removed and duplicates are dropped.
  • Check before publishing. Flags mixed hosts, invalid or future dates, out-of-range priorities, more than 50,000 entries and files over 50 MB.
  • Built for long lists. Entries show 25 at a time with Previous and Next, the preview stops at 200,000 characters, and Copy and Download always include the whole file.
  • Clear all, Copy and Download. Download names the file sitemap.xml, or sitemap-index.xml for an index.

  7. Add Sitemap: https://example.com/sitemap.xml to robots.txt and submit the address in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.

Who can use it

  • Site owners and bloggers who need a sitemap for a small site, with clean page addresses from the slug generator.
  • SEO specialists cleaning an exported URL list and checking the finished file with the XML validator or tidying it with the XML formatter.
  • Developers building a static site who also need redirects and compression rules from the .htaccess generator.
  • Online shops that want product photos listed as images in the sitemap.
  • Marketers who write title and description tags with the meta tag generator and set share previews with the Open Graph generator.
  • Teams moving a site who compare the old and new URL lists in the text diff tool or remove repeats with the remove duplicate lines tool.

FAQs

How do I create a sitemap.xml for free?

Type each address into a Page URL box, or click Paste / Import URLs, paste a list and click Add URLs. Choose URL Sitemap, tick the optional tags you want, then click Copy or Download sitemap.xml. Upload the file to your site root, for example https://example.com/sitemap.xml. There is no account and no limit on use.

Does this tool crawl my website?

No. It does not visit your site or fetch any page. The sitemap contains only the URLs you type, paste or import, and the XML is built in your browser, so your URLs are not sent to ZipConvert. If you need a list of every page, export it from your CMS, your analytics or a crawler and paste it in.

Do priority and changefreq still matter?

Not for Google. Its sitemap documentation says it ignores both values, and it uses lastmod only when the date is consistently and verifiably accurate. Untick priority and changefreq under Optional tags to include for a smaller file. Other crawlers may still read them, and they remain valid XML if you keep them.

How many URLs can one sitemap hold?

As of October 2026, Google Search Central allows 50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed per sitemap file. This generator warns when you pass either limit. For more pages, create several sitemap files and list them in one file with the Sitemap Index type, which writes sitemap entries with an optional lastmod instead of page entries.

How do I submit my sitemap to Google and Bing?

Upload the file to your site root, add the line Sitemap: https://example.com/sitemap.xml to your robots.txt, and submit the address in the Sitemaps report in Google Search Console and in Bing Webmaster Tools. Google also lets you submit through the Search Console API.

Can I edit a sitemap I already have?

Yes. Click Paste / Import URLs, then paste the XML or use Open .txt / .xml / .csv, and click Add URLs. Entries keep their lastmod date, priority, changefreq and image URLs. Tags the generator does not write, such as hreflang xhtml:link, video or news entries and image captions, are dropped, and a message lists how many.

Should I put noindex or redirected pages in a sitemap?

No. List only canonical addresses you want indexed, with a 200 status. Pages with a noindex tag, redirects, error pages and URLs blocked in robots.txt send mixed signals. The generator checks the format of each URL but cannot see your site, so review the list against your own pages before you publish it.
